In the spirit of preliminary round World Cup Rugby, with serious rugby nations handing serious victories to mismatched opponents (namely Australia beating Japan 91-3), the McGill Redmen opened the floodgates against the ETS Pirahanas in their first regular season game. The tries rained down, numbering 14 by the final whistle, and rookie kicker Alistair Crow notched 9 conversions to set a McGill scoring record (28 points).

Not to be outshone, sophomore Kyle 'Goose-Step' Buckley, scored 4 tries, including a 80 yard kickoff return that would look more at home in a highschool football match. Adding insult to injury, McGill's one and only 100 kilogram flanker, Caleb 'Call me j-hovah because me flow is religious' Balloch, was physically dominant, upending several ETS players and pushing his way through for a try off a penalty tap. Other impressive moments included a startling T-bone tackle by flanker Alex Sebastian, all but killing his opposite number, and an impressive midfield bosch by second-row Antoine Nestle off a kickoff, sending a clear message to the pirhanas that McGill is synonymous with mercilessness.

In the end, pulling the bus into the field at St. Julie proved the most difficult part of the afternoon. If the Redmen remember to play their own game, and if the front row can remember to touch down the ball after mauling it across the try line, and if the flankers can remember not to kick the ball, one should expect an equally impressive result when McGill faces their old rivals Concordia this Wednesday. Go Redmen Go.
